Chewing gum is quick to stick to the clothes and this is a common problem as people love this treat. Being considerate to chewing gums, you must have faced this issue of chewing gum stuck on your cloth. This is the last place we want a chewing gum. But once it happens, this is tough to remove the sticky nuisance from your cloth. The fabrics are soft and delicate and you must stop using harsh chemicals to remove gums. You can ask deep cleaning services if the gum sticks to your furnishing fabrics like bedsheet, curtains.

Heat and Cold Therapy

Rub the area with an ice cube. It will harden the affected area of the clothing. Once it gets hard, you can remove it smoothly using a scrapper or butter knife. You can also keep the clothing in the freezer but in a plastic bag for two hours at least. But do not put the cloth with the gum faced down in the freezer.

Use an Iron

You can use an iron to remove the chewing gum. Make sure you do not use the iron directly on the gum. Put the cloth on the ironing board, keep a cardboard on it and then use the iron. Keep the iron in light to medium temperature while heating it as it prevents the mess up after melting the gum. The heat will stick the gum on the cardboard in place of the fabric. Continue to press using the iron until the gum softens and stuck to the cardboard. Now gently remove the fabric from the ironing board to check if there is any leftover gum.

Coconut Oil to the Rescue

Coconut oil is widely used for many purposes – from skin to hair and even for cooking. Apart from having endless benefits on the skin and health it can help you to remove unwanted gum from the clothing. Heat the oil for a few seconds and dip the fabric area into the oil. Let the oil saturate the stain and dissolve the gum. Once this is done wash the cloth. Using this process you can also remove gum from your hair.

Acid method

Take a bowl of vinegar and heat it in the microwave for one minute. Now dip the fabric in the bowl and scrape of the gum using an old toothbrush.

Hot trick

Use a hairdryer to heat the gum on the cloth and scrape it off using a knife. Take a dollop of analgesic rub and use it on the gum residue.
